Bio

Paul has been involved in the merchandising of fashion, home and giftware products for more than 25 years and presently owns and operates Paul Thompson Signature, a design consulting business that works in the home interior and accessories industry.

A native Texan who started his career in New York in theater, Thompson developed a retail consulting business with clients in network television, performing arts theaters, major New York and Northeast independent retailers and private clients.

During Thompson’s tenure in the home furnishings and gift industry he was VP Creative Homestyle (2008-2010), VP Merchandising & Trend OneCoast (2004-2008), Director of Visual Merchandising & Trend for The Pfaltzgraff Company (2000-2004), Visual Merchandising Director for Department 56 (1992-1999) and an independent designer for residential and commercial clients.

His vision and energy is expressed in the visual merchandising, display and branding for showrooms, market centers and retailers nationwide. Additionally his work includes photo styling, trend forecasting, product development and articles about all things visual that are featured in trade publications, such as Home Accents Today, Gift & Decorative Accessories, and Smart Retailer.

Previously, Thompson was an instructor in the Home Products Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. His seminars and lectures on visual branding, store planning & design and merchandise display are presented across the country at various home furnishing markets, including New York, High Point, Dallas, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
